All DDPs, regardless of their size, are fully-equipped shared storage solutions.
All of them can be equipped with different storage capacities and come in a RAID 5 or RAID 6 configuration.

Depending on the selected series, there is also the possibility to choose between different base systems, HD or SSD packs or a hybrid configuration as well as different GbE, EX and SAS cards.


DDP BASE SYSTEMS

There are two microDDPs, the 1GbE version and the 10GbE version. It is a 1U box and can be equipped with SSDs of various capacities. As it is a full SSD solution in a box, there is no HD or hybrid configuration available.

The miniDDP is a storage array. The miniDDP 2U base system can hold up to 24 SSDs. The miniDDP24EX/EXR can be added on the fly to standalone and scalable redundant DDPs.

The miniDDP48DF is a modular all flash Ethernet SAN Shared Storage Server in one box. The miniDDP 4U base system can hold up to 48 SSDs and can be equipped with 1GbE, 10GbE or 40/100 GbE cards. With an EX card, storage arrays such as DDP16EX, DDP24EX or DDP60EXR can be added on the fly.

The DDP8D base system is 2U and part of the standalone DDP series. All standalone DDPs are modular Ethernet SAN Shared Storage Servers in a box with built-in metadata controller and can be equipped with HDs, SSDs or hybrid configuration of various capacities as well as different GbE cards.

The DDP48D/DF base system is part of the standalone DDP series, a modular Ethernet SAN Shared Storage Server in a box with built-in metadata controller. The F version is needed for bandwidth requirements beyond 2GB/s. Storage arrays can be added on the fly when an EX card is installed.

The DDP60EXR base system is a storage array and is fully redundant. It can be delivered fully equipped with HDs, SSDs or combinations with different capacities.

DDPHead/DDPHeadF 3U

DDPHeads are part of the scalable (non) redundant DDP series. This series consists of DDPHead or DDPHeadF base systems in combination with DDP16EXR, DDP24EXR or DDP60EXR base systems. For performance beyond 2GB/s, a DDPHeadF is required.

All DDPs can be equipped with SSDs. Depending on the chosen DDP series, there is also a hybrid configuration possible. The SSDs are available with a single capacity of 1TB up to 4TB and come in a SSD4 or SSD8 pack combination.

HD drives are available with capacities starting at 1TB and come as HD4 and HD8 packs. The packs can be installed in the storage arrays, standalone and scalable (non) redundant DDP series. HD packs of various capacities can be combined but HD packs also can be combined with an SSD pack in a hybrid configuration for SSD caching for the highest possible bandwidth. With HD packs of the same capacities load balancing can be used, also resulting in increased performance.

SAS Cards

SAS cards

Except the microDDP series, all DDP base systems can be equipped with a SAS card. A SAS card is needed to connect a SAS LTO tape streamer to the DDP.

HOW TO SELECT A DDP  about Administer Performance, Streamcount & Bandwidth

 

For DDP16D, DDP24D, DDP48D and miniDDP48D:

1. Select Administer performance data for your desktops and get the stream count.
2. Check the Stream count and format, and find the number of packs.
3. Select a DDP base system which can hold the number of packs.
4. Use Bandwidth to find type and number of ethernet ports.
5. Select the capacity and the number of packs to get the capacity needed.
* If Archiware backup or archive is required directly from the DDP a PCIe slot must be reserved for the SAS card.

For DDP Head with DDP16EX or DDP16EXR:

1. Select Administer performance data for your desktops and get the stream count.
2. Check the Stream count and format, and find the number of packs.
3. Select DDP16EX or DDP16EXR base systems which can hold the number of packs.
